Hi Guys,
For the time being, once my cabinet is completed, I will be running the machine on my Centrino (1.5GHz) based laptop.
I eventually want to replace that with a PC tailored specifically for MAME and other emulators.
My plans are for an AOpen EZ18-BK XC Cube ( in Shining Black to match the black gloss cabinet), mounted centrally on the front panel, just above the 2 player coin door (on an internal sliding magnetic-catch shelf so I can gain easy access to it).
The facia of this case won't, i think, detract too much away from the overall cabinet appearance (plus, it will be osbsured slightly by the overhanging control panel).
The components I want to use are:
Athlon 'Barton' XP cpu 2500GHz
512MB RAM (2x256MB, to take advantage of the dual-channel RAM support)
250GB HDD (removing the HDD from its current external casing)
AOpen DVD-ROM drive
(Arcade VGA card driving a 21" Toshiba TV through SCART connection at a later date)
I assume this specification will run most of the currently supported MAME games, with the exception of most of the CHD requiring games - but does anyone have any other recommendations?
Thanks...

You should be able to run most games on than I think, even some CHD games pretty well. The newer 3d games will struggle, but most of them aren't anywhere near complete emulation-wise anyhow...

Thanks for the link, Minwah...missed that one.
Not that intested in the later 3D games...just as long as all the 2d shooters, the 2d fighters, and all the Neo-Geo games work okay, then I will be fine.
I'll get the cabinet finished first, and put an order in for the bits and pieces...
PS. Great FE btw...
