Title: LEDs and Resitstors

I got a mixed bag of "12 Volt LED CAR BULBS" from www.superbrightleds.com and I want to hook them up to my computers power supply.  It was mentioned that resistors were needed and this is what I need help with.

What type of resistor do I need?

here are the specs for the leds:

Single LED Wedge Base Bulbs

Voltage: 12~14 VDC

Current: 20~25 mA

Size: 8mm x 24mm


I have some of the 4 bulb leds aswell but I think that the specs would be similar to the single LED bulbs mentioned above.


Please not that I live in Ireland and we don't have Radio Shack over here.  So once I know what type of resistor I need it may be a misson to find somewhere that has them for sale.

Generally it's true you need to use current limiting resistors with LED's, but those already have the resistors made into them for connection to a 12v supply.

They were made for automotive applications, which also happens to be 12v.  So you should be able to hook them right up/plug 'em in.
