Title: esc key freezes mame 55

I am setting up a dos mame cabinet using mame 55.  When I hit esc it freezes
the whole app (and pc).  I have to ctrl+alt+del to retart the system to get
out again.  Has anyone seen this behavior?

I bet it would be helpful to try a different version of MAME and see if it has the same results, that could rule out many other things (ie : bad keyboard encoder, ect ect)
