We're currently looking for someone in the San Francisco Bay area who has a MAME control panel that could be used to run LaserMAME at the upcoming CA Extreme show on September 7-8, 2002. (see www.caextreme.org for details).
A pair of sticks, a spinner and a trackball that will "plug and play" into any PC to control MAME, would be the preferred setup. If you're in the area or will be in the area for the show and can supply the control panel, we would be more than happy to offer free admission for both days in exchange. Bragging rights are included, of course.
Thanks,
Tim

Basically, we need something to play all the games LaserMAME supports. See
http://games.lasers.org/pictures.shtml
for a list. If your control panel has controls enough for all those games, we want it. USB, Gameport, etc., whatever works with standard MAME will work with LaserMAME.
To answer the other question, LaserMAME is a special version of MAME modified to play vector games with a laser.

If you looking to buy one... then you can build one pretty easy.
Oscar spinner has a usb version.
Imperial trackballs have a ps/2 version.
IPac has a usb version.
ie, willing to spend the cash, you can something that will take a VERY small amount of configuration.
For mounting. The fastest easiest way in my mind is going to a hardware store and buying a black counter top. Now just drill and place somewhere.
But all in all....
the best way will be to buy one complete www.slikstik.com (http://www.slikstik.com)

Playing asteroids while it is being projected on clouds.
How cool is that?

When it came out...
I started searching for the hardware to do it...
to damn expensive! But would have been WAY !@# COOL!
then for a bit I was searching ebay... but couldn't find any of the items.
I would LOVE to see a version that you could run at home or afford some how... but with moving parts (the mirrors) I don't think the hardware will ever get cheap enought for hobbyists.... (hobbyists with other hobbies)

I'd think finding a single color laser projector wouldn't be that bad. There are toys out there that use them!
Multicolor how ever....

they might have some cheap ones... but the ones that lasermame runs doesn't seem to be cheap
