Title: Wireless Mouse Control for Oscar?
Post by: Tempester on June 29, 2004, 01:33:47 pm
Hey fellow gamers.

I've built myslef an excellent Tempest control panel for playing my all-time favorite game - Tempest. Hate to plug another wbsite - but the Oscar spinner is as good as it gets.  Weighted perfectly like the original.  I even found a pair of the lighted atari style cone buttons from ebay to finish it all off.

Anyway - I hate plugging the damn thing in.  Wireless is the way to go, if I knew of a mouse I coud cannabalize for such a project?  Any ideas - I need to cut the wire for both the IPAC controller and the Oscar optical / mouse sensor.

Thanks.

I don't think you will EVER get it to work acceptably.

there is lag in any wireless connection.   Some better then others (wireless joysticks are better then wireless keyboards... new bluetooth (or 801.11 if you can find them) joysticks that is).

But I've never heard of anyone using wireless mice for gaming.   And I dont think they design it that way.

So you would basically hack the joystick and not use your IPac.  Then expect that you will only get a few buttons.  The config buttons might not even run as fast as the other buttons.

And I would guess that you won't find any mice solutions worthy of the controller..

IE

plug it in....

If your building a box... Add a USB hub inside it... and have one cord.... use a usb mouse hack from Oscar and the USB version of the IPac... one cord..  Not the best... but the end result will be much better.
