Title: What's it called?
Post by: Goz on June 29, 2004, 09:38:08 am
I know I should know this, but can someone tell me what the name of the break away card is that has vsync, brightness, etc for a WG monitor and if they are generic nature or if they are specific to each monitor model.

A guest reached into my CP and twisted the little plastic POT off of the brightness adjustment.

Any tips on where to pick one up would be awesome.

 Thanks,

the upfront board P632 (if a k7000 series) try American Gaming and Electronics or betson imperial or just buy the pot from bob roberts and replace (much cheaper)

I assume this is a K4600 series monitor that has 2 plug in boards.  One is called the Video IO board and is the one with the inputs for the signal and stuff, and the other one is the X-Y deflection board that has more components and some variable capacitors to adjust horizontal hold among other things.

Ken Layton posted a summary of each board model # (e.g. 313, 316, ...) and which rev of the 46xx they came with, however I believe any of them are swappable with any other board.

You could also simply replace the single pot that was broken, however it likely will cost as much as another used board.

The technical name is "Remote Adjustment Board", but it is more commonly called simply, "Upfront board". Bob Roberts sells the pots for it either individually or as a complete set of 6. You can also buy the pots directly from Wells-Gardner's parts dept.

ken, I've been talking to a guy off the board about making his own since he called wells gardner and they told him it was too small of an order to handle with them and they sent him to american gaming or betson. ???  Don't know if there has been  a change in philosophy at wells gardner but thought I would mention it...

Wells-Gardner has a $50 minimum order and the upfront board costs around $22 to $35 depending on monitor model. Just buy two boards and that will make the minimum order requirements. ;)
