Title: Cabinet Restoration
Post by: daeven on June 27, 2004, 01:53:38 pm
I won an auction for a "Pac-Land" cabinet.  I was hoping that it had the PCB, but I know it didn't have the monitor.  It turns out the only thing Pac-Land about it was the marquee!

Anyways, the cabinet appears to be a Stern Frenzy game.  Either way, I'm going to restore the cabinet to its original Frenzy appearance, but is it worth the effort to try to find the actual game boards and make it all original?  I see a nice Frenzy sold for $399 on ebay.   Does anyone have a set of Frenzy PCBs they would like to part with?

The going rate for a working Berzerk of Frenzy boardset (same boards, only the roms differ), is $300+.

Berzerk/Frenzy had some major battery acid problems, thus spare working boards pretty much don't exist.

I suggest just trying to get a Frenzy marquee, and then using a computer instead of an original boardset. It is going to be cheaper that way, and it will also allow you to play at least 700 other games (while still using the original controls).
