Hello everyone,
My name is Zexis Stryfe (call me Zex) and I am a newcomer to the forums. I recently picked up the PROJECT: Arcade book, and since then I have become obsessed with creating my own cabinet. After looking over many example from the community (okay, so I am a bit of a lurker :P ) I decided to go with the Ultimate Arcade II cabinet style with some modifications and a custom control panel. I also decided on a dark purple, dark grey, and black color scheme with the ninja woman Shion by Masamune Shirow (from Hellhounds) featured prominently on the cab and cp. The only problem I am running into is a proper name for my project... anybody have any ideas???

here is what i think...
Build your cabinet first. If you start playing it, it may never get finished. You probably won't need the artwork finalized untils finished being built anyhow. While you are working on your artwork, you think of a name that you feel fits your theme.
Post some pics of your artwork in the artwork forum, maybe when there is something to see, you will recieve some name suggestions.
I really can't think of a name suggestion though.

While I understand where you are coming from, the real reason I am looking for a name so early in the project is because I would like to commission some artwork to be done for the cabinet sides, the marquee and the cp, and I kinda need a name to put on them, ya know ;D

i thought the artwork was already nailed down. guess thats a different story then.

Hmm...might sound a little goofy, but these things aren't exatly easy to put together, you could always go off of the name you picked and call it "Stryfe."

I've always rooted for simplicity rather than clever puns based on the pseudo-word "MAME" (not a knock on anyone who did that... just stating personal preference). Something like "ARCADE CLASSICS" or "MULTI-GAME MACHINE" or "CUT-CO" or "INTER-SLICE".
The best fuel for any brainstorming machine is a little embellishment on what kind of name you're looking to have.

I was actually thinking of something simple, like "The Master System", but I didn't know if that was too close to Sega ancient VG system. The other posibility I was contemplating was "Mastercade"

You might be able to get a few ideas from this website:

How about "Ninja Arcade". You could decorate it with Ninja Swords and Ninja Stars ... ;)

If you use the word MAME as part of the name, no one outside of this board will get it. You will just get blank stares from the people using it when you try to explain it.
