Whats the best tool for sorting through my MAME roms to sort out only the USA and/or World Roms and leave the Japanese ones out?
I have played with RomCenter and ClrMamePro but I don't see options for this.
Do to limited hard drive space and long lists I'd like to sort out games I won't be using.

There isn't any way, because world, japaneese and usa roms aren't always explicitly labeld as so. The easiest way is to filter off any rom that ends with a j. Btw you can't do this in rom managers, you'll have to wite a custom script or use a fe with filtering capabilities.

Ahh figured as much. I guess I'll go through and do it manually. Kind of a drag, but oh well.

You also gotta remember that with most roms, the "parent" rom is the world rom. The USA/Canada rom is considered a child ROM..
So if you have a merged set, you need both USA and world rom there.
At which point, I give up and just keep world around. I find a lot of games have more features in the world version (blood, etc.)
;D

Actually there isn't any rhyme nor reason as to which game is parent.
It depends on the manufacturer, the year it was produced, the arcade system it was made for ect.... for example, many capcom and neogeo games have the japaneese version as the parent because they are based in japan. Even odder still, only every other capcom/neogeo title has the japanesse version as parent, the other half has either world or usa. Oddly enough I beleive alien vs predator has the european version as the parent.
All parent means is the first revision.... so which ever country it came out in first will be the parent.

What I did was just use a custom list to sort out what games I wanted. Seemed to be the easiest route to take.
