Title: Lazarus Win 98/98SE/ME Runtime error '429'
Post by: Dink on August 12, 2002, 01:31:38 pm
"My" latest troubleshooting endeavor...

In Lazarus 2.x for Windows 98/98SE/ME.

If you are receiving a "Runtime error '429' error, Activex component can't create object"

It is because you may not have Windows Scripting installed.  It seems Windows 2000 and XP users have it installed by default.

Windows script version 5.6 is the latest and can be obtained here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/winscript56/Install/5.6/W9XNT4Me/EN-US/scr56en.exe

Next for me, figuring out "Error 53, file not found..."  This application will run for me, it will run, eventually, it will... :)

Error 53: File not found

If your computer has crashed while running Lazarus, the file custom.lst may be missing from your Lazarus directory.  Re-extract the blank custom.lst from the Lazarus .zip installation.  Lazarus needs this filename to be present to run.  Then perform a "Rescan for Roms".

Yes this is true... ALL files I include with the exe MUST be kept.  That's why I include them.  If you'll notice the one's that are optional are blank if you look inside.  The only exceptions are the catver files and dat files as you can replace them with whatever you want.

I've got the blank custom.lst file in there, but I still get the Error 53 message.

Read above :)

Also don't try to rescan for roms before you first generate a gamelist.
