Jerry, Oscar, or anybody else ;D...could one of you point me in the right direction? I need to know which contacts to solder on the mouse buttons so I can use mouse buttons on my cp....
Any help that can be provided would be awsome...thx

Show us a pic of the PCB, that might help.
-
er....that will have to wait until I get home....just thought there might be a universal situation, similar to microswitches

Well, actually, yah. A mouse button (at least the ones that I have seen) have both a NO and NC connection. If one doesn't work, try the other. And you should be able to see the common ground between them.

Here is a pic of the back of one of my older USB mice. You should be able to identify the ground plane pretty easy as it should be common for all the buttons.

Those are really just anchors? I never tested it, of course, but I thought there was NO/NC action there.

Some are, some aren't, depends on the make of the switch. As you can see on the PCB, though, there aren't traces to those locations so obviously you wouldn't want to solder any wires there. My labels are describing the functions on the PCB, not the mouse buttons themselves.

Cool...I'll take a look at my PCB tonight..
Appreciate the help everyone..
Thanks ;D

Here is a n00b question and do apologize for it.
But the mice you guys use to hack are they ball or optical?
-
Ball Mice, finding Ball Mice that are USB is proving to be a trick unless your OSCAR..he seems to have them on tap ;)
I don't think there is a "pretty" way to hack an optical mouse to work well. At least I haven't seen one ;D

I heard that in general ball mice work better for MAME than optical mice anyway, so even if you could hack an optical I wouldn't bother.
