Title: LAMINATE Where in the heck do I get it???
Post by: koolmoecraig on June 25, 2004, 03:32:46 am
If you say Partsexpress.com, I will blow my head off!

Seriously though, does ANYONE else online sell wood laminate by the roll? None of the stuff at partsexpress.com has that dark old school cocktail cabinet look.

Anyone? Anyone?

Thanks,
Craig

I have ordered from http://www.cabinetparts.com with great success.  They sell all the Wilsonart laminates.  They ship very fast, too.

If I read your question right , what you are looking for is actually called printed veneer and if memory serves me right the color you are probably referring to is called walnut

Did you try www.rockler.com

They might have it .If not have you thougth about building your cab in 3/4 " oak plywood and staining it to the color you want.

I do have aother suggestion  nbut I am not sure it would make a stong cab... How about if you bought a cheap put it together yourself desk from any dept store something like this http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2310502&cat=91851&type=1&dept=4044&path=0%3A4044%3A103150%3A91791%3A131784

Just my 2 cents
Ed

Thanks for posting that link ... their $30 cheaper than my local home center even with shipping ($83 per 4x8 sheet no matter what color) for the 4x8's.

Go to Home Depot and ask the guy who runs the Kitchen countertop section where they buy their laminate locally.  That's what I did and he referred me to a place close by that has great prices and can get you most types of Formica in 1 day.  No shipping cost and they are very helpful with respect to installation questions.

They discount for every sheet after the first (I think).  Last time I ordered, my unit price after S/H was less than their quoted price.  Showed up the third day after I ordered.

I don't have a local Home Depot.

83$ per 4x8??!?

My local home depot had them for $39.99 per 4x8

Obviously I was limited in selection but black is black is black ;)

I also had to go to a Home Depot a little ways away as not all of them carried it in stock

do this though.   Check your local lumber yard and see if they got any that you can talk the price down on.  Ive found many yards having stuff thats been cut and almost scrap thats lying out on a side thats in good shape.
