I have a betson super joystick. It is fully assembled. I cannot figure out how to take it apart. That ering is a ---smurfette---. Any guides for this? I have looked everywhere.

Grab a small flat head screwdriver, insert the head into one of the side holes in the e-ring, twist, hold on to the e-ring otherwise it will fly away never to be found again, then disassemble.

I would add that you should grip the plastic sleeve just below the E- clip and push DOWN on it. That relieves the pressure of the spring pushing the sleeve against the clip. Makes the clip slide off very easily using the above mentioned technique (flat head screwdriver + twist).
PS: I'd also caution that you carefully pay attention to the orientation of any non-symetrical parts. For example the Happ sticks have a tapered plastic piece that fits in the top. If that piece is put back in upside-down, your joystick will feel broken when you use it.
