Title: TV power (without remote)
Post by: Scoobie on June 22, 2004, 02:03:38 am
I know this has been discussed here before, I just can't find it in my searches.

I'm running my cab with a TV.  I have everything wired to switch on with 1 button...except the TV.  It seems to require my hitting the power button on the set or remote.

Does anyone know of a way to change this or maybe a safe way to "hack" the power on switch on my TV?

Thanks!

A lot of people are able to jam the power switch on the TV with a paper clip or something so it is always in the on position.  This allows it to turn on with everything else.

I had the same problem as you do.  For my cab, I took apart a cheap universal remote.  I wired the TV remote power button to an arcade pushbutton that I have on the back of my cab.  Then I extended the IR emitter to in front of the TV.   As a result, I have to hit 2 arcade pushbuttons, one for everything but the TV and one for the TV.

Some TV's will optionally power on after a power loss.  So basically if you have the tv on, then switch off the powerstrip, the tv turns off obviously.  But then when you switch the powerstrip back on, the tv powers up also, since it was last turned on and there was a 'power outage'.  Only certain TV's do this, but it is handy for this hobby.
