Title: Would there be any interest in premade relay switches for one switch powering?
Post by: Hoagie_one on June 21, 2004, 01:51:59 pm
It would be just like the switch designed here (http://home.bendcable.com/werstlein/).

It would be nice and compact and such.  Wondering what the price point would be to see if its economical to make these for resale.

If pricing parts now, so tell me what something like this is worth to you so i can see if its worth my time to save you time on this switching option.  It would obviously have to be cheaper than the bits limited switches of course.

well, I built these for my games untill someone pointed out the (obviouse?)  If you set the pc to turn on after power lose then your cool... a lot of the more popular Fe's nowadays can power the pc off from the menu, so power the pc down then hit the power off..... upon turning the power back on the monitor, speakers, marquee and pc will power back up.  thus eliminating the relay bit....

i did spend this on such back when.

2x 3 dolla p/strips
1- 8 doller relay and seat
?-wire
?-slid on crimp ends

i think what you are describing only works if you are using a pc monitor. i think if you are using an arcade monitor the relay would work perfect or the power supply in the other thread: http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=20611

of course i could be wrong, it did happen once before ;)

this will actually work with any monitor. especially a pc and or arcade monitor, the tv would need to support stay on but thats a whole differant thread.  this works cause once the power strip is back on the monitor device would power on as well........  and since the power was turned back on the pc would notice this and power itself on as well.

I'd pay $10-15 for this.

if you're using a PC in the cab anyways, why not just tap a small power strip into
the switched power at the back of the power supply (the one they used to plug the
monitors into in the olden days..:-) Then you've got single button power on for everything..

It should work depending on the amount of stuff you need to power (wattage wise)...
at the very least it would get your monitor and computer sync'd for power on..

Hey wiseguy, my time is valuable. :)

Seriously though, I have done more electronic tinkering over the years than I care to admit and I don't have time anymore.  I need my time for cab-building.
