OK, I flipped through all my roms and just realized that I have probably only played about 20% of them. For anyone who has a complete set, can you honestly say that you have played them all?
-
I would like to think that I've looked at snapshots of all of them and played anything that looked remotely interesting. I have NOT played every version of Mahjong, in fact I've never successfully played a single game of it.
-
With how I play I don't think I ever will. I have 3334 games, of which 100 are probably majong. I've played about 50. A lot of the games have replay value so its gonna be a slow journey.
-
I've probably played @ 1000 of them.. Found some interesting ones but 90% of the time, I play 80's classics.

that's how I thought when I started out, try and play them all. You get bored of that after awhile.
-
I've never really got the whole idea of having every single game, my machine runs approx 220 at the moment and that is plenty.

I have Game Launcher set to just list my "favorites", which is probably somewhere in the 100-game-range, but there is something to be said for occasionally popping over to the "all games" menu and trying out a random game that I've never heard of.

Yeah....I like trying my luck in Mr. Gump's "Box-o'-Chocolates" every now and again, because you never know what your gonna git! ;D
-
More than anything, I like the idea of having all the roms so when you remember a game from long ago or you have friends saying game titles you will have it. :)

On of the favorite setting on my frontend is all non-set favorites.
I go through this all the time and try new games.
I have played for at least a few minutes only 25% of the games though

A looong time ago when there were 2000-2500 games I think I played just about every parent game. When I say 'played' some of those would have been insert coin > start > this is crap > quit. I think I even loaded all the Mahjong games, not that I know how to play them...
Now I find I mostly play the same games, I need to make myself a favorites list...
-
An analogy! I have over 120GB of mp3s (~20,000 songs) in my music collection. I will never listen to them all, as a matter of fact, I probably tend to just listen to about 3,000 or so of the same songs over and over again. Does that mean I'm wasting space on my computer??? Hell no!!! There's nothing like having someone say "Do you remember that song from <insert artist here>?" and me saying, "No I don't remember that song, but I have it!!!"

I went as far as going through and manually deleting all of the mahjong games that I could. I'm sure I missed a few but I did dump a lot of deadweight.

This is off topic, but, how DO you play the mahjong games, anyway?
Never have been able to find a tutorial...
-
When I got the entire .70 set from a burner, I deleted the majong and adult games immediately and eventually played everything else. Even with a VERY liberal criteria for keeping a ROM, I've ended up keeping 580 ROMS (Most of which I still don't play, but at least wouldn't suck if I did.)

Is there a website where all the arcade games are voted on? I would love to be able to just take all the 8-10's or whatever the scale might be, and not bother with the rest.
Otherwise, does anybody have a list of their favorite games that has played a lot of them?

GREAT-I'm not alone now. Unfortunately, I started collecting video cabinets based on the controls and then try to Mame it that way. Example, I have a horizontal and vertical trackball cab, I have a fighter style, Daphne cabs, now I'm working on 4-ways (Frogger and Popeye).
Now I'm running out of room--this is so addictive...
