I'm starting to work on designing my cabinet and am wondering if my CP width is going to be too wide and look goofy.
My planned removable CP layout is a total 42" across with a 8.5" removable Trackball panel in the center. I am using 2 MAS systems Joysticks that will be removable also for play on consoles. They measure 16" across each so that's 32" + 8.5 + 3/4"x2(sides to hold panels in place) = 42".
I was planning my cabinet to be 25"-26" across. I think this is pretty standard and is similar to the LuSid Plans and Project Arcade. I'm not following these plans to the letter but using them more as guidelines.
I have a 21" monitor where the screen measures about 18"-19" across if memory serves me correctly.
So bottom line is do you think my CP is too wide or Cab too narrow or will it really matter? The monitor is not negotiable. ;)

CP seems too wide to me. Your cp is 42" and your monitor is 25" which means that there is 17"/2 = 8.5" of CP off of each side of the monitor. I would try to work it down to no more than 6" on each side. But by all means build a mock-up out of cardboard or foamcare and see how it looks.

What about making the cab a bit wider? How big is the usual bezel around a screen?
