Title: Marquee...time resistant ?

I've printed my marquee 3 monthes ago (on translucent backlit Epson paper)...but the graphics are still faded.

I suppose that this is due to the proximity of the neon light, and that the inks don't like that ?

Is there a way to prevent this, and keep crisp colours ?

I've read that some Epson printer use inks made to last at least 50years...have you tried it ?

Any other sugeestion welcome ;-)

Archival properties of photographic materials are usually reported assuming the material is mounted with acid free media, framed behind glass, and stored in a cool dark place.

There are UV resistant inks, if UV is the culprit. It could also be the media, if the inks weren't designed specifically for it, or the plexiglas, which gives off certain gasses. Any reactions that do take place will be accelerated by heat.

Does this mean I should leave my marquee light off?

I had a marquee printed up and after a few months the colors are already seriously fading. I had been using a Plexiglas backing (that's it). So I bought some UV protect-ant Lexan since my cabinet gets sunlight from a window. I'm hoping this will stop the fading.

If the heat from the fluorescent light is the culprit maybe I should look into a lower wattage (do fluorescent bulbs even have wattages, do they get hot)?
