Title: Started my Cab today!
Post by: Mikee0 on August 07, 2002, 07:19:57 pm
Hello, im new to this board , have been reading since back in Jan. this year and have started making my Cabinet today.

I would just like to say thanks to all who post here as it has helped me make up my mind.

Im using happs 8 ways and happs buttons interface to a kb encoder(IPAC)  and also have the ikari style sticks with rotary interface's LS-?? (cant remeber right now bought back in march).

So I started cutting my wood today using Lusids plans and its turning out quite nice :)  I only took a break now because I tripped the breaker as the kitchen is in use.

One question I would like answered is if anyone is useing a TV out Video card and what does it look like, What vid cards are recommended for this type of setup. I will be seting my PC up to a 25" TV no S video :(

anyhow i think ill head back out and Whoop the woods --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- some more.

Thanks BYOAC forums so much!!

In my opinion I'd say go with an ATI radeon, ATI has the best S-video quality out right now.
Here's some webpages that show you some comparisons of differnet styles you can use with a TV
http://www.xiaou2.homestead.com/turbo.html  for Composite vs S-video comparison
http://world.altavista.com/sites/auen/pos/babelfish/tr?lp=es_en&tt=url&url=http://www.agoranet.es/~ddv/cabinet/tele.htm    for comparisons of the Geforce2 MTX
http://www.trouble-makers.com/kami/emulation/main.html  for TVMame32, a great way to play mame32 on your TV.
  -Hope those help

Thanks for the Sites CthulhuLuke they helped me make my decision. I ended up settling with the GeForce2 Ti 64MB DDR 4X AGP Video Card TV-Out, It has S vid and comosite Tv line out. I know it may look like overkill but I also plan on using the Cab to run Newer PC games so this should provide me with the option to do so.

I have yet to cut and drill my CP, I want to go for the Street fighter style but am having a tough time finding the dimensions or a stencil I could print off. I used to have a stencil ready to go but I cannot find it now.

Other than that I should have the cab put together by tonight and build the PC this weekend hopefully finished by next week (All the major stuff anyhow).

If Anyone out there knows of a site I could find a basic SF CP layout(with or without stencils would be a big help.

I' report back here with more progress later..
Mikeeo out..

So I made the 1st cut thursday night and its now saturday 2x 24s later :) ...

Cab is finished and she is sturdy, was finished friday morning.

CP is finished looks great so far, Had trouble finding lost circlip from bottom of  controller when it flew from my hand to beneath the dryer for about an hour... looked through all kinds off saw dust for that .

I just finished my wiring buttons to IPAC and took about 3 hours to wire 24 switches.

Its getting late so ill put a PC in tomorrow and test it all out           ::)

the radeon 8500 woops the geforce 2

but in comparison of tv out quality my gf3 ti 500 looks just as good as the ati one but i used the ati because it fills the screen

waiting for the ati component video dongle to come back in stock though

sorry to double post but your milage may vary with geforce cards as they dont make the boards

usually the cards with vivo have great tv outthat fills the width of the screen not the hight though half inch black border on bottom

dont buy 3rd party ati boards either there tv out varys as well
