anyone know if daytona has been emulated? or if it has another name that has been emulated? wouldnt that be the ultimate mamecab? a four cab daytona hookup!
as soon as ive renovated my 127 room castle im building one...
-
No, it hasn't been emulated, but there is a PC version out there.
-
The pc version was really really lacking I thought
didn't they really rewrite it completely with weaker models, and weaker physics ect.
Anyone have it and tell us if it was any good?
-
I have it for the Sega Saturn........
It's pretty good. Not that that was what you were asking ;D
-
it occured to me later that a fully emulated version would not only have to be able link up to three other machines, but have output for the steering wheel feedback. still, i never thought id be able to play the original galaxians again either...
-
Daytona is at least two or three years away from being emulated at full speed on a PC, probably more. A better bet might be the Dreamcast version, which is extremely faithful to the arcade.
Actually, a Dreamcast would make a good addition to any mame cab since it's basically a stripped down Naomi board. AFAIK it can be hooked up to an arcade monitor and arcade controls (via a controller hack) pretty easily.

Touche!
The DC is just great, and has loads of awesome arcade ports....one day mine will be sitting in my cab...

I had a dreamcast in my sitdown cab...
but had to get rid of it...
but I didn't own daytona on it. there are tons of great driving games for it.

You guys are out of the loop

naomi emulation is "this" close to being a reality.
For the record, and you know how much I hate console ports daytona 2k1 is one of the few ports in history that is better than the arcade version. Unfortunately it's broken as of this version of chankast.

thanks for the tip Howard. Unfortunately im a mame32 guy. Ive downloaded all I can but I cant make any sense of it. But ill keep it all and one day ill just get a geek friend to set it up for me (

No, but neither would mame if it were emulated by it. :)

maybe i'd better start saving for the real deal then!! geez, four is gonna break the bank. i guess i could re-draw on the house...
