What is the best way to mount an SNK LS-30 Rotary in a CP? LS-30 stick is pretty short. I am using 3/4" MDF for CP - should I recess the joystick from above/below?

These were made for a metal CP (I think? these were the midnight resistance sticks, right?)
So the best way to mount them is through a metal panel, obviously.
For your MDF panel you could cut a hole large enough to fit the entire stick through in the panel then cut a square of metal larger than the hole i nthe MDF and mount the stick into the metal. then you could route out around the sides of the hole of your MDF to the depth of the metal and glue it in place. Incredably labor intensive but it will look nice when you're done

Yeah mounting plate is best way to go you can get a sheet metal place to make you one very cheap.

wdo you have plexi ontop of your panel. If you cut out a hole in your mdf just bi enough for the ls30 the plexi should support it.

I used a router on mine. And got it thin enought to work... but still strong enought not to break..
I wouldn't expect them to take it in the 'real world' of an arcade... Some kid would smash them..
but I've been using them for 1/2 year and haven't broken it.
NOTE: Don't put the top on them if you can't get the SNK top tool thingy under it. Someone here put his on... but couldn't get them off again... and ripped up the control panel AND the joystick trying to get it off.

I've got a pair of these I haven't mounted yet. I don't have the LS30 wrench. (or is tool thingy the proper name? ;)) Anybody figure out how to get the tops off without one?
