The answer is maybe.  Here are some clarifying questions:

Do you want to play HOTD2 through MAME?  IIRC, it's not available yet.
Do you want to play HOTD2 from a PC version?  I doubt it has a credit mechanic you can tie a cabinet into.  You may also want to check PC light gun compatibility with the game.  The Act-Labs gun are probably your best be for that.

You can play HOTD2 as well as other PC games with an ACT LABS gun and a patch that is a available from their website.

It is not emulated.  There is a PC version.  It works w/ the Act Labs in the same way as HOTD 2.

Actually HOTD1 is emulated by Nebula Model 2.  It's probably a little buggy though.

HOTD1 does NOT work with the newer USB Act-Labs guns.
It used some kind of mouse acceleration that the newer guns do not support.

Have you tried the patch available on Act Labs site?

Quote
* This is a fix that allows the Act Labs USB light guns to work with older games that were previously incompatible with the guns because of the way the games handle mouse input. This Fix also add's support for the 2 Player function on the Act Labs TV USB Light Guns.

I actually don't own the guns, but they list HOTD as playable on their site.  Is the list incorrect?

They came out with that patch after I got mine apparently.

I'll have to give it a shot.   :o

You can play HOTD2 on a VGA monitor with two players (two lightguns) pretty cheap using a Dreamcast.  As for the coin mech...you can hook that up to the start button (one coin = 1 player start).
