Title: Speakers orientation
Post by: Stormdemon on June 10, 2004, 01:24:26 pm
Why on western upright cabinets the speakers do not face the player but look downwards? Maybe it because the place where they are installed? Once I heard it's this way because the sound waves hit the glass in front of the monitor and then redirect to the player, but this theory sounds too odd.

I think it is because it helps isolate the sound to the player.  If you have an arcade, you don't want machines sitting next to you drowning out the sound on your machine.
