Hello,
I was wondering how I can sort my complete mame list and make a NEOGEO list. BUT have all the neo geo games in a NEOGEO layout? so its just them.. I dont want a custom list within the mame layout. I want a neo geo page... ayone advise?
Nebula-it plays all the neo geo games? what is CPS2, CPS1 etc? but mame does that too? why bother with KAWAKS or NEBULA then? I just want neo geo section
thanks

What if you just set up a 2nd emulator running Mame but have the only list be a filtered custom list with Neo-Geo (BIOS)roms. With a 2nd emulator you can have a totally different layout and everything.
Just change the Emu name to "Neo-Geo" to mask that it is actually running Mame.
I think that would be the simplest way.

Hey ok
that would work thanks

how do i filter just neo geo?

You filter by bios in mamewah. Select only the neogeo bios.

What I would do is have 2 custom lists, 1 for NeoGeo and the other for all other games. Then make a layout for each list - MAMEWAH now supports different layouts for each custom list, so you don't need to set it up as 2 emulators :)

BTW Minwah, this was an awesome addition to your FE. I love having my Classics list have a different look than my Fighters list.
THANKS!

Glad you like :) I hadn't thought I would use this feature but I may make a slight change to my layout for each custom list - I use different lists for each control panel...

I thought having custom list layouts would work but I wasn't 100% since I didn't have it in front of me. Just do that and you'll be set. Good luck!

hey
ok how to i do the bios thing???? filer just neogeo?
-
Yeah
Just leave Neo-Geo as the only "yes" and turn all the others off or set to "no". Exit and it will refresh the list. Good luck.

Hey
Great thanks I figured it out! thank-you.

Cool. Glad you figured it out. Do you already have a catver.ini file? With that you can sort out lists based on catgories. I have one list that is just "versus fighters" That maybe of some interest to you in the future. If you want the file go here http://www.catver.com/

Hey
Yea that is what I am working on. Many people who played mame had complaints of going through 4000+ roms.. so what I did was made um Neo geo list, Light gun list, and soon, fighter. and then the mame list is reduced to the others. What other categories? can i filter like classics? ie) pacman etc..... with the catver of course not manually... maybe sports.....and driving. any suggestions??
Also I want to add a few pc games too.. can they be added to the lists? like if I have mame sorted into LIGHT GUN. can i have PC version of house of the dead there too?
Mamewahs filters are great!

At this stage I don't believe you can mix lists of different emulators. However Minwah may implement this in the future. (if he gets enough people nagging him about it. ;) )
For those of you who are unsure about creating custom lists within Mamewah using the catver.ini file I have put together a short demonstration video showing how it is done. You can get the video here (http://www.screenshotarchive.com/mwtutorial.htm).

Hey
I think that would be just a great future.. Thanks for the video I could have used it! :P

Ok the filters dont want to work right with mame. I set up fresh and it shows all filters but doesn list CATEGORY in the filters list? if I put in a second copy in mamewah to same directory the category section is seen in the filter list in the second copy but none of the others?? very, very weird

After you placed catver.ini in your MAME folder, refresh the Main List and the Category Filter will appear.
BTW Triggerfins catver from www.mameworld.net/catlist is an alternative (probably more accurate) to the one from catver.com...
