Title: VAPS
Post by: Cisco Kid on June 09, 2004, 08:30:57 pm
Anyone here belong to the VAPS (Video Arcade Preservation Society)? ( http://www.vaps.org )

Just wondering if there were any around here  :)

If anyone else around here belongs ... if you don't mind posting a link to your collection list ... I sure would like to see what ya got in your stash  ;D

I'm the West Virginia entry with 37 boards  :D (actually 38 but it won't let me enter Soul Calibur 2 for some reason)

Edit: YABBSE doesn't like URLs with the '@' character.  Will have to cut and paste.

Nice to see I'm not the only one  ;D

DAMN Chad ... I bet that VF2 Deluxe you got is freakin' sweet (must be nice  :D )

I snagged myself a VF2 board off eBay today ... actually I've never played VF2 ... looking forward to it though ... only a few plays on VF1. (I bet your a god at it with that kind of setup  ;) )

It's nice to see everyone has a MK board in there collection  8)

Peale I figured you for alot of those old classic boards (Pre-JAMMA) ...  I must have you confused with someone else around here ... I know some around here has a killer setup of the old school games.  That "KLAX" game does look interesting ... never seen that one before.

Cool   :D

I hope to pick up an original Budwesier Tapper myself one of these days (my favorite classic game of all time except for Donkey Kong).

I absolutely LOVE the pre-JAMMA stuff.  Problem is you either need a JAMMA adaptor to play, or the original cabinet.  Also, the originals are pricey, hence the use of Mame (for now).  Once our money situation straightens out, believe me, I'm getting me some real classics.

Heh... I actually don't use it much.  That machine is possibly going to be converted to MAME (though not irreversably).  I actually picked that up for $300 (plus $150 and a day's driving to move it).  Here's a lousy pic of it in action, dark and partially disassembled.

Peale, I hear ya there ... the "Classics" definitely aren't cheap these days.

Chad ... I'd swap the Virtua Fighter 2 board out (if your bored with it) for a House of the Dead PCB and have a zombie stomping good time (nothing like a lightgun game and some crazy brain eating zombies to bring a cabinet back to life ... especially that particular cabinet ... it's perfect for the lightgun games.)  Invite some friends over the literally shoot the sh*t .... lol ... be loads of fun.

You got one heck of a deal on that cabinet ... in my area ... I couldn't touch one of those for any less than a $1000+  :'(

That cabinet will definitely make one bad --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- MAME cabinet .... that's for sure.

Buddabing ... that's great ... everyone that has the boards or is lucky enough to have the actual cabinets should definitely join no matter how big or small there collection is.

You know, swapping HOTD isn't a bad idea... that was one of my favorite Saturn games.  I wonder what that pcb and the guns go for.

As for MAME, I haven't had time to start it yet, but my biggest obstacle I think may be the monitor... I can't find ANY INFORMATION on the freakin' thing.  I even called the 'manufacturer' (Mistubishi) who claimed no knowledge of it.  Obviously, it can handle 25khz... but can it handle 15?  I have no idea.
