Title: WTB: Donkey Kong in Los Angeles
Post by: Stingray2019 on June 08, 2004, 06:39:01 pm
A buddy of mine is interested in picking up a unit for his home.  After some halfhearted searching, he came to me.  I've got some feelers out looking for a unit but nothing so far.

Anyone have a unit available or suggestion on sales in Los Angeles?  (San Fernando Valley preferable)

Thanks

My buddy had mentioned he was looking around $600-$700.  Might be a little unreasonable as a price but if it was in great condition, I think he'd be willing to spend more.

My buddy may be interested.  Can you contact me off list?  He'd like some pix of the unit to start and what you'd want for it.

Thanks

I'll have to get back to you on pics - I'm leaving on a fishing trip this afternoon.  Anyway, they wouldn't be much good as it's in parts at the moment.

I'll give you a good description, though.  It is blue laminate with white T-molding.  The blue laminate is in good shape except for a 1.5" X 1.5" spot where it took an impact at one time (the laminate is cracked, but still there), and a smaller one next to that, on the right side.  They aren't really a big deal, but they are noticeable.  The T-molding is a little yellowed and has been nicked in a couple of places, but not too bad.

As for it being in pieces, I'm working on a couple of things.  First is a cap kit that will be installed next weekend.  Second is replacement of the plexiglass on the control panel - it had a cigar-sized hole in it.  Third is replacement of the marquee and control panel art.

Other than that, it plays great.  It should look very nice shortly after next weekend.  Also, my sister lives in Tustin, so at some point in time it might be possible to get it most of the way up there for you, if you would like.

I'm back in town.  If you still want pics, let me know.  Also, cap kit arrived, so the monitor gets a reconditioning this weekend.  ;)
