I have decided not to go the route of using plexiglas as a cover on my cp.
Instead, I'd like to use a pre-made MDF with Formica already attached (or similar durable cover) instead. I've seen others use this and Home Depot even sells them complete (except they only come in very ugly colors).
Does anyone know where I can find more color schemes on one of these?
Thanks!

hmm... not sure I've only needed black formica so I'm not too sure what kind of colors other places my carry. Just to let you know, Formica shows oil stains very easily from your hands and stuff. I did my control panel and cabinet in it and I'm always cleaning them because of this. So if you have little kids or friends who will stick there hands all over it you might still want to cover it with plexi.

It's true that the premade laminate panels that most Home Depots carry are in ugly colors and patterns but they also carry swatches for at least two companies that have at least 200 colors and paterns each. That's 400 choices if you can manage to apply the cement yourself. I didn't go this route for my arcade cab but I have built a couple of counter tops for desks and workstations (I am typing this on one of them) and I have to say that applying laminate is not difficult. There are some tricks that I am sure I and others here could share with you. Matching seams can be a challenge to make them look good but it is possible (and if you use large pieces, you can usually get away without doing that anyway).
The fingerprint thing can be an issue but it can be the same on a plexi or lexan overlay as well. I say, go for it. You'll be happier knowing you did it yourself.
