Title: Smash TV and iPac
Post by: JAZ on June 04, 2004, 12:19:27 am
How do you connect four 8-way joysticks (2 per player) for games like Smash TV and Total Carnage to an iPac? Do you need an iPac4 which supports four sticks? I guess you just connect joystick 1 (player 1 movement) and joystick 2 (player 2 movement) as normal, but what about the other 2 sticks?

You could use an ipac2, just mape the other joysticks to button inputs.

Couldn't you use some of the player 1 button connections for the second player 1 stick and then configure it in Mame?

Here's a simple solution for an ipac2...
For Player 1, connect one joystick to the directional keys, and connect the other joystick to 4 of player 1's  non-directional keys and just setup the buttons in mame.
For example:
        Left Joystick:                              Right Joystick:
             UP                                               ALT
LEFT                 RIGHT            CTRL                       SPACE
           DOWN                                            Z

The same idea would go for player 2.

You just map the input controls on those games accordingly.

If you have a control panel layed out in a fashion 3124

Player 3 stick = 1 - left
Player 1 stick = 1 - right
Player 2 stick = 2 - left
Player 4 stick = 2 - right
