Title: T-Molding and Sidewinders
Post by: isugoat on August 02, 2002, 12:13:01 am
Does T-Molding go by any other names?  No one in any of the hardware stores I've been in even know what it is until I explain it.
Or am I in the wrong kind of store?...if so, what kinda chain stores might handle T-Molding?  I'm ready to put my cabinet together but I wanna throw the molding on their first.

And on a different note, everyone keeps talking about getting Sidewinders for $5...where can I get this deal at?  Lowest on pricewatch is like $20...even most on ebay are > $5

You can explain it enough for them to know what it is? ?!?  None of the stores around here (San Fransisco) knew what it was when I tried.  Of course, none of them had it, either.  On line is the way to go.

I don't remember where... but someone on the board used quasi-t-molding... and it had a "generic" hardware store type name...

Although I think this stuff wasn't t-molding as it didn't require routing but gave a simliar effect... sorry don't remember what, or if it is good enough for your application... maybe someone else will remember...

If you are hell-bent on buying it at a store, look for a wood working specialty shop.  They would probably be the only place to have it.  Like Thorn said most of us get it from www.t-molding.com, its cheaper there than it is from Happ.

[sarcasm]Gee you went to the hardware store and they didn't know what you your talking about.  Heaven forbid the highly intelligent "Guss" wouldn't know.  You know those guys that work at Lowes and HomeDepot are so great.[/sarcasm] ;)

Serously though, go with t-modling.com

Even though you are all set, on this mame cabinet (ev's) (http://www.triplo.com/ev/arcade/)

it mentions that the hardware stores call it 3/4"  T-edging, but apparently they only found it in white....

I also found http://www.edgemold.com/tedge.html but don't know where to get it locally...

another alternate source (although their page is dreadful)
http://www.tapeease.com/t-moldin.htm

they are cheaper on a per foot basis than
t-molding.com but minimum order is 250 feet ... maybe if a couple of people went into cahoots they coiuld save a few bucks or if you had a ton of cabinets to do it could be worth it... *Shrug*  just felt like documenting those small tidbits i stumbled upon...
