Title: 19" 'Standard'
Post by: Jkawch on June 03, 2004, 06:13:34 pm
Hi everyone,

Brand new to the hobby. Im sorry if this can be found in detail somewhere, Im just confused, and want to make sure I dont needlessly spend money.

Im in the process of building a cocktail from scratch, and I want to throw a 19" Arcade Monitor in. It 'seems' to me the defacto standard around here is the Happ 19" VGA (ease of connection + looks best).

Is this true?

Also, if so (if this is the one being recommended), is the one Im looking for off the Happ website the 19" Vision Pro VGA/SVGA with 15 pin signal?

Thanks!

*Thanks Alan!!
* + Sorry...this is in the wrong forum...was having problems with forums at work, mod can move to correct monitor one.  ;D

If you're going to be running the machine in fixed basic VGA (640X480) then likely any front-mount VGA monitor will do the trick. For high resolutions, though, you have to get pickier.

Personally, I'd recommend the cheapest monitor you could find that met the specs. In this case, that's the Vision Pro monitor you found. That monitor displays up to 800X600, anyways. Sometimes you can find cheaper monitors on Ebay, but that's only is you don't mind waiting and hunting. Otherwise, I'd probably go with the monitor you found.

Unless someone knows where to get them cheaper, that would be my pick for retail.
