Title: Dos Sound Cards
Post by: D on July 11, 2002, 02:51:20 am
Well, my dream of running this cabinet in Windows is all but gone, so I am switching to DOS.  Only one small problem - my computer is new, thus no ISA slots.  What PCI sound card can I use that will work well in DOS with AdvMame.

Any proven advice would be helpful here.  I've already purchased enough hardware that doesn't work already.

I think I'm right in saying the SoundBlaster 16 PCI is probably the best to get for pure DOS.

I used to use one of these before I switched to Windows & onboard sound.

Perhaps someone could confirm this as a good choice ?

When I was setting up my cab I was initially planning around using DOS and I got an old Creative Ensoniq (PCI) card from the local PC chop shop for $8.
It worked great.  Now that I have switched to Win 98, it works there as well.

Thank you.  Many posts on various boards and an unmentioned "friend" repeatedly advised ISA cards for DOS.
