Title: A funny thing I noticed using advancemame with a J-pac and a gforce4 TI card
Post by: mattv on June 02, 2004, 04:10:30 pm
I have been using the faithful old S3 virge with advancemame/jpac onto an arcade monitor for a while now but have been frustrated by the minimum pclock that the S3 can handle (8 or so) which means that a lot of the very low resolution modes are garbled.

Anyway, I tried my Leadtek geforce 4ti the other night to see what would happen and was delighted to find that it copuld drive a display at a pixelclock rate of as low as 4.

The trouble is that there is a "hole" between pclock 7.35 and pclock 14 where it can't drive the display properly, picture still comes up but flicks every few seconds. Very frustrating.

Has anyone used a geforce 4 with ipac and had this problem? Is there any way around this?

Why do you need such a low pclock? Just run the game with double x-resolution and let advancemame double the game display for you.

There will be no difference in the picture.
