Title: Newbie questions about cabinets

hi..im thinking of ordering arcade kit from mameroom.com

what is the next step?  do you paint or apply lament?

can someone provide serveal solutions that is easy and cheap with keeping looking good.  i plan to apply decals in the future and just looking for a finished look and prehaps with a different color trim...

 you could do either one. that is the great part about this hobby, you can do your cab the way you want to. there is no set in stone rules in building your cabinet (exept dont butcher a classic cab). i think painting it would be the cheaper of the two. just make sure you primer first and dont be afraid to lay down 3-4 coats of "finish".

For an authentic looking cabinet, the cheapest thing to do would probably prime it a few coats, then paint it gloss black a few coats, laminate would look good too, but maybe be more expensive, it isnt as reliable, and would take more work.

Hmmm. Has anybody ever covered their cab with fake fur?
