Title: Question about the cab I just got
Post by: Antix on June 01, 2004, 02:02:43 am
First off, Hi everyone, Im new here, been reading quite a few of the posts, but havent (yet) found one that answers my question. (sorry if it has been answered already) Ihave just bought a cabinet with Street Fighter Zero 2 in it. (it was cheaper to do it this way that build it myself and I am budget constrained a bit ) I have also ordered a J-PAC board. My question is though, I opened it up, and this is what I see when I view the inside, and the game PCB etc.

Now, was I right in getting a JPAC Connector? The pics dont show, but there is another connector going into this fan cooled PCB case. I asked the guy if it was JAMMA and he said yes, and would I have any problems connecting in other game boards, he said no..... But, he knew nothing about MAME so couldnt help me there.....

If the J-PAC will work, where does it connect to?

Thank you in advance for you help... Im lost here, just learning what to do. Can take more photos if needed :)

Cheers

Yes, you did the right thing getting the J-PAC.  It plugs into that socket in the second picture.  The other thing is for the buttons outside the JAMMA standard.

If you want to hook those buttons up, you'll hook them up to the screw terminals on the outside of the J-PAC.  Consult your documentation for more details.

Oh yeah...congratulations on your purchase!

I have nearly the same situation.  I bought a cabinet with a capcom GigaWing boardset in it.

I got a J-PAC and an ArcadeVGA card from Ultimarc and had it up and running MAME in about an hour.
