I have this idea for an easy 8-way to 4-way...
My CP is wood, so it's thick, the joystick hole could have notches cut into it, then I could have a specially shaped part that I could drop into the hole and notches, and it would restrict the joy from going 8-way.
Anyone here ever try this? My reason for this is:
A. Don't want more joysticks than I need on my very small CP.
B. Don't want to have to go under the CP and mess with screws and other parts that 2-4-8 way joys usually have.
C. This way is an easy drop-in, take-out little part.
Opinions? Anyone interested in this if I go ahead and make this part?

Do you mean like the 4-way restrictors that Oscar Controls (http://www.oscarcontrols.com) used to sell? I believe he doesn't sell them any longer but I could be wrong.

there was an ancient thread where this idea was pitched.
Although IIRC there was some reason why this wasn't a viable option...
BTW there are 4/8 way joysticks that are switchable from the top ... both groovygamegear and ultimarc sell 4/8 way sticks that can be switched from the top.
good luck!

OHHHHH Hey, you know I had been to Ultimarc's controller page a few times before, and that very first top photo of the bottom of a stick really through me off. I thought all the sticks were changeable by rotating the part on the BOTTOM.
I paid closer attention this time and now see what you're talking about. That red ball-top would be perfect!
