Hi
My cab has limited space and I really want to get the largest pc monitor as possible into my cab. Do they sell a pc monitor with no white casing around it? so i can maximize the size of screen i can use?
-
There's a thread regarding OEM monitors. Seek and ye shall find.
Also, you know you can take the case off, right?
-
Hey,
Do you know how much extra room it will give me? who sells them already done? are they in a frame or some thing to bold it to my cab like a arcade monitor?
thx

Hantarex have the MTC EV range. They are basically PC SVGA monitors which are open framed (there's no case - but have aluminium frame for mounting)
check details on their web site www.hantarex.com (click the "Data Monitors" link). the dimensions/specs are in the PDF data sheet.
note i also see a number of EV models listed on the special offers page.

thanks for the link... now I am not a rocket scientist and cant understand the pdf file. WHat type of connector does it have? resoltuions?

I appreciate the link.. anything in CANADA?

it has std VGA connector.
I clicked the "View Full Product Specifications" link and got this page:
http://www.hantarex.co.uk/data_spec_2.htm
seems to indicate that supported resolutions are:
VGA (640x480) and SVGA (800x600 and 1024x768 interlaced)
note that maximum res is interlaced (it will have a flickery display)
given above info I now think it may not be best solution if you want a regular PC monitor performance.
as for availablilty in Canada - i am not sure. maybe they have a distributor - suggest that you email them. see contact details on their website.
also just seen this on ebay...

something like this might be of interest.

Just take the casing off any cheap-old PC monitor. I've done it a few times and just mounted the tube/inner frame to a piece of 3/4" plywood or cross 2x2's

those arcade ones are perfect size small and compact.. just the resolutions suck.. and may not work well with things like PSX, xbox and newer console emulators

i don't think you are going to be able to connect consoles to a PC monitor without some kind of converter.
A Scart TV is good option if you were in Europe as long as it supports the RGB inputs (not all scart TV's do).
I have gone for Hantarex 21" MTC EQ/2E which is a video monitor (a TV without a tuner but it has Scart, s-video, and RGB inputs. I have an ArcadeVGA graphics card connecting to the RGB inputs on the Scart connector. I am getting an authentic std res arcade monitor effect but also have ability to connect a console as well. The only downside is that the EQ/2 is pretty large unit and fairly deep so it will be a pain to fit everything into my cocktail cab :(

Hey
Yea I can get an adapter for consoles on a pc monitor that is what i am after a pc monitor. wish i could find a PC monitor in the size of an arcade monitor nice and compact

Talk to civic83 --he picked up a 19" PC monitor and plunked it in--looks really good--All you would need to do is de-case it and you are good to go--although you probably wouldn't even have to do that.
