I honestly felt my heart skip when I realized what this person had done....
-
Yeah, I saw that! Interesting idea.
-
Arggghhh, he killed a great game and made a monster!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Several years ago when I lived in OK, an almost mint one of those sold at an auction for $200, I hope it hasn't suffered the same fate...
-
I am hoping to get measurements of that cab to build the same type of thing....didn't think someone would use an actual cabinet to do it, though!
-
How do you move one cabinet in several trips? ???

don't the big x-men cabs come apart so as to fit through doorways?
-
Yeah, but it reads
This is a very large and heavy cabinet, and may require several trips with a pickup truck.
If your truck can't handle an arcade machine...you need a new truck!!!
My 1/2ton pickup can hold 3000lbs of brick and the suspension still hadn't sagged (the engine was running warm...but it's bagged to begin with and the rad leaks :p)
But somehow I think this cab weighs less than 3000lbs :D
-
I've still got the remains of one of these in a shed.
the base of the control panel disconnects from the main back piece with the monitors. Also one monitor is bottom mounted with a mirror and the second one is mounted in a box on the back.
The thing fills an entire pickup truck and hangs off the back gate a little.
Pain in the ass, I bought mine years ago for the monitors.
(Auction in nashville, it was about the last thing to go and noone else would take it. I think I paid 250 for it.)

I'd take that thing off your hands, but $$ are a problem right now! Would it be possible to fit two 17 or 19 inch monitors in there side by side? I'm looking for dimension of that thing to see how much spit and baling wire I'm gonna need to rig something up! ;D
-
I bought a 4 player version of that thing. I had to cut some of the front off to get it in the house. It's only one piece.
The 6 player comes apart, and it has trouble fitting in the back of a Ranger.
They sell cheap at auctions because NOBODY wants to carry that thing around.
Even the boards are dirt cheap.
Maybe one should be left for posterity, but I'd strip it too.
-
The winning bidder didn't come through for that one. I ended up with it, for the deal of a life time. I am debating with myself about turning it back into the 6 player x-men. Anyone want to sell me a 6 player board? I have been watching ebay for them...

wow man that was a hell of a price too for it. COuldnt you make your own control pannel? Hopefully man . If you end up getting rid of any of the parts let me know im intrested.
-
If I don't make it a 6 player x-men, I would get rid of the cabinet. I can put the games in it now into other cabs. I was thinking of making the cab a mame cab. Could fit a HUGE TV in it...

Does any one have a scan of the manual or schematics of the 6 player xmen board? Or a link to a download?
Thanks!
Steve

I personally do not have them, but would love to have a set of plans or even some detailed pics of it. It'd be pretty damned cool to build a modified version of that..... although the only problem being I have yet to see 6 player X-Men Rom. Unfortunate but true.
-
I can give you pics and dimensions in a few days if you want. I am spending Saturday going to get a few more games, and Sunday trying to JAM them into my basement. I will have a few up for sale soon, (Long Island, NY), and hopefully my 4 player x-men, if I get the 6 player working. (I've become an addict, thanks to fricken ebay... lol) And still haven't built my MAME machine yet...
Steve
If any one else has scans, pdf's or knows where to d/l, I would really appreciate it.

Do you need the marquee header?
Cheap...
(Shipping only.)
Went to the old shed and the game is trashed but the header has survived.

It's in Mame, but it is a non-working game.

That would be great. Too bad to see a machine pass away... Where are you shipping from?
Thanks!!!
Steve

Definately! I would love to see some pics and get some dimensions.
-
Chattanooga, TN.
Should be cheap, it's mylar and I'll just roll it up in a box.
It was taped to the glass, but it will be cheaper just to cut a new piece than to ship a glass piece that big.

Did the monitor bezel with the character descriptions survive?? I have been looking for that, but I think it is usually destroyed.
Thanks, Patrick
-
No bezel. Looks like the side and front art is clean just painted over. The CP has new JS and button holes drilled into it. Basicaly it's judt a giant black box. But it came with 4 games, 4 power supplies, and the 2 25" monitors have ZERO burn in. All in all, still an excellent deal.

A link to the pic is still available at the top of this page. The winning bidder didn't come through, I got it for $100 less. With plenty of extras.
Steve

id make that that into a mame arcade with a HDTV, nice widescreen
-
What games did it come with?
-
It came with a Tekken 2 in one side, and Killer Instinct in the other. The owner also threw in another Tekken 2 board and a Primal Rage board, both with harnesses and marquees and new in box power supplies.
An update in the paint removal... Tried 5 more items... A citris degreaser for ovens works EXCELLENT. Spray, wait 5 minutes, black paint wipes off, original overlay is totally unharmed. :) However, the rectangle Killer Instinct side art pulled off the black paint, and the color off the original art. >:( So the side looks brand new, except for the rectangle that looks like it was bleached... Since the outlines are still there, I think some model paint, and I can "color by numbers" it.

steve, if you've got dimensions for that thing, I've been looking for them. I'd appreciate it if you could send 'em my way. Also, Jakobud would probably be able to give you more specifics as to what would be needed, but I believe he'd host the dimensions on his web site.
-
Here are some pics, I can email you more if you like. I can measure it tomorrow. I found out that it is ONE INCH TOO BIG to fit through my basement door. I was ready to change the door, (really), but there is a wall on each side of it. Changing a door didn't seem like a bad idea, but I'm not moving walls for this. I don't know where to put the damn thing now, garage, living room... Just doesn't seem right leaving it all alone, with all it's friends in the basement...

This side was painted black. I got all the paint off, but the new side art pulled off more than the black paint. Soon to be colored by numbers...

Here is one more.
I have some detailed pics of certain areas. I didn't want to post them all here. If anybody wants them I can email them. And for the person that wants to put the dimensions on his board, I can take more pics of any areas that he wants for his board. Would be more than happy to if people want them.

Is that one inch with taking the door off? The reason I ask is that you probably have more than one inch available, depending on how involved you want to get. You can easily take the door off, but if you really want to have this thing in the room you had planned to put it in, you'll probably have the room you need by taking off the jamb and the casing around the opening. The casing is usually 1/2" itself, which would give you the room, and the strip the door would close against would give you another 1/4". If you lived closer, I'd come do it for ya, but it's really not that hard to do yourself, just use a putty knife, hammer, and patience. Go slow and don't yank, just gently pry. If it don't come loose, get a bigger/thicker putty knive (read: screwdriver or prybar) and gently give it a pry until the nails loosen up. If you mark 'em right, you can probably use the same nail holes, but I'd use a bit thicker nail.
If all else fails, a Sawzall can be your friend! ;D
If you could send me your pics to use2b_chzhdz AT hotmail DOT com, I'd appreciate it.

One inch too big after the door is off. In fact I sanded the hinge pins so they come out by hand. Since the door comes off so much. I looked at the door stop. It looks like it is part of the frame. Its a pre hung entry door. I am still thinking about using my power plane and take them off and reinstall a standard door stop after. Email, on way...
Steve
-
Since it's a pre-hung door, I KNOW you can get the extra inch by taking it out.
Remove the door. Slowly/patiently take off the face casing (the part that covers the door frame, does that make sense? I dunno) and you'll see the opening with the shims and whatnot. The door frame ALONE will give you the inch, and removing the frame will give you breathing room.
And, by the way, I COMPLETELY understand if you don't want to remove the doors, I'm only telling you this in case it inspires you to go for it. I know for a fact that you have that room lying beneath all the fancy trim for that door.
It all depends on how confident you are of your skills, but if you built a cab, this is NOT out of your range.
-
I had to take my cabinet apart to get it down the basement. Kind of a pain, but with alot of patientience and prying I was able to get it apart without damaging the sides. Now if I ever sell the house the game has to go with it, because I would never do it again ;D
-
dearl ord its huge loo. nd for the price you got it at too :)
