Howard,

The potential of this is truly amazing, I'm looking forward to configuring it.

In the meantime, the first thing I did was to take the skinner app out as I definitely need to change the look around.  That app definitely needs some work (if you didn't already know) -- The advanced option crashes it immediately.  Also, I used the old "Dimension" skin from Raging Dragon and the skinner app did move things around just fine.  However when I went to load Lazarus, I noticed that the positioning of the text list is way off and the font changes didn't take either (not sure on the graphic elements, didn't test that one yet.)

Let me know if I'm doing something wrong or if you can duplicate.  I created a 2-column list at the top of the screen, screenshot lower left, marquee lower right (using the background from the old Dimension skin as I mentioned earlier).

for the advanced part try downloading an updated tabctl32.ocx here:

ftp://taurus.bmtmicro.net/vgaplanets/v4/tabctl32.ocx (ftp://taurus.bmtmicro.net/vgaplanets/v4/tabctl32.ocx)

Howard, looks great. I'll definitely be putting this on my cab when I get back from my vacation.

Is there going to be a way to sumbit bugs or suggestions?  Just email?

It's fine.  Hopefully you'll make good use of using print # instead of write # :)
I played around, I made a quick and dirty wizard to grab the main categories from the catver.ini and make virtual directories.  Definately not user friendly though:D

It's my FE on my cab until yapfe gets done...

The old skins are NOT compatible with the new front end

Looks awesome!

Does it have the ability to rotate the display for use in a cocktail cab? If not, is that a feature that you were considering for the future?

There really aren't any good windows based frontends with the ability to rotate the display. I wish I could program!

I had seen yours, I like it, its pretty cool. (The Emulaxian one, right?) I'm looking for something without a "theme". Something similar to Arcade OS, of Mamewah. I like the Gamelauncher one but it really doesn't work to hot with the windows port.

Do you have a link to the Mike Billing's one? I'm not sure if I checked that one out yet.

Thanks for the info, by the way, your Emulaxian site is mint!

Actually Emulaxian is fully skinable so you can make the theme anything you want.

Well not on it's own, but portrait software makes good use of screen rotation which will work.  Also if you get a newer ati or geforce card desktop rotation is built into the drivers.  The problem with both of these solutions is that it causes a great performance hit on certain setups.  sicne both methods use a hotkey to activate, I was thinking that in a future version I could have it to where the screen rotates upon startup and then de-rotates upon the launching of a game, thus leaving screen rotation up to the user.   The only reason I don't add cocktail support is the simple fact that I can't find an easy way to do it in vb.

And Sp you can post comments at the end of any news I post at the website.  But I may get a message board setup in the future.

As of now phase 1 is almost complete.  This front-end is supposed to work out the kinks and get the new modular structure in place.  After I get that the way I want it, I'll port all of the display over to directX to improve speed and give the ability to add some cool fx.  :)  I just wanted to say that because even though graphically it will still look very much like it does now, the speed issues on slower machines eventually wont be an issue.
