Title: analog stick

hi,
i have an analog joystick (dexxa) along with it i use a centering software called ctjf23.  but it causes loss in framerate in games when running.

i recently bought cricket2002 PC, wwf PC,  etc for which i plan to construct an analog gamepad (gravis) as per the ckt diagrams given in this site. will i have centering problems with the gamepad too?


WHAT IS THE REASON FOR CENTERING PROBLEMS IN JOYSTICKS. DO ANALOG GAMEPADS ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM?. DO DIGITAL GAMEPADS ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

I have both a digital pad and an analog stick and have never had any cetering problems.
As long as you calibrate it from the Windows Control Panel, you should have no problem with MAME.
Go to Control Panel and click on the gaming devices icon and try to calibrate both.

Based upon this users other posts, it doesn't look like they are even using MAME (FYI kaly -> MAME isn't a joystick config tool it's a Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator (http://www.mame.net) that is commonly used by people who make "home" arcade controls to play classic and not so classic video games on their PC.)

TheManuels advice is solid though... go to settings->control panel ->joystick and calibrate your joystick there...

What games are you having trouble with btw if you aren't using MAME?

A good analog joystick has a mechanical calibration slider. No software required.

a GREAT arcade analog doesn't need one.  Since the springs on it will always center it...
