I have been planning on building a modular CP. I was looking over some other projects that have used modular CP and they use different kind of dowel, lever, hook fasteners, ect...
Has anyone tried using 3M Dual Lock tape? I was thinking about using Dual Lock tape to secure and dowels to align the panels. Has anyone used this tape before? It seems pretty sturdy (rated for 100lbs load). Just wondering if it would give too much play/movement while playing CP controls?

I just pulled up the data sheets - it is rated at about 1 kg per square inch both for static tensile and sheer load. However, the design note at the bottom says this is under ideal conditions, and a better figure might be 1 lb of static load per four square inches in practice.
In any case, the tensile strength would probably not be enough to hold panels alone, since aggressive players can easily generate quite a few pounds of force. You would need a lot of tape.
It might be OK in a situation where the panel is already held in place by dowels (drilled in place in a rail) and you just need to secure one edge or something, but I probably would not make it a signficant load bearing component.
You have probably already seen my modular CP (link below). It uses the bezel along with some dowels in a rail to lock the panels in place. A simple cabinet latch secures the final edge of the panel but the latch is not load bearing under normal play.
