All,
I just ordered 2 new Ms Pacman/Galaga reunion sticks from Betson. These are 4-ways and are approved by Namco (I called to be sure). When I get them, I'll take some photos and maybe someone who has the Happ reunion sticks can post a few pictures to compare them. FYI, they were only $15.95 (on sale until 5/31). Part number 47-9075-06 (not in their online part seach yet).
I hope these are nice. More to come....

let us know if they have the same short (too short IMHO) stick as the happs, thanks,

Okay...here they are

The bottom with the joystick still on

Hmm, interestring. The bottom view looks like it could still work as 8-way? Is or does it not push that far?
-
Ray,
The plastic restrictor (built into the base does not let it reach the diagonals.
Thanks,
Todd

Hmmm.....looks like the Betson-Imperial stick is actually made by Suzo.

From the pictures it looks like it has a standard length shaft i.e. very short.
However, the joysticks fitted to the the Space Invaders/Qix 25th Anniversary cabinets have longer shafts. I wonder if Betson or Happ sell those joysticks.
Ken Layton: What makes you think they are made by Suzo? Is it the crown symbol on the top? They are not listed in Suzo's catalogue.

Grasshopper,
Yes, this would only fit in a metal control panel to look right. Betson does have the Qix/Space Invaders reunion joystick for the same price (until 5/31). It's listed as stk# 47-9075-07 (Space Invaders/QIX). This may work.
Let me know if anyone ends up getting these SI/QIX sticks.

the SI/Qix joystick does have a longer shaft about 1" more than the Ms.Pac/Galaga ones. If I stop over at Betsons. I'll try to get some pic comparison.

One thing I noticed about my Happ replacement was that there was a sort of a lip underneath so that it wasn't perfectly round. I found it rather uncomfortable when trying to grab it. This one looks like it's sort of the same. Where can a perfectly round replcement (like the machines) be found?

That crown logo looks like a Suzo product.

Check Ebay for used leafswitch joys......

I rather thought that the crown would relate to the "imperial" part of Betson / Imperial ;)
