Has anyone created a 4 player MAME that has good directions on a web site? Want to play the usual: Simpsons, TMNT and NBA Jam. Having trouble finding a good example, I am thinking of building it by scratch. Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Lots -- go to the Examples page and search in 'description' for' 4 player' (and click the Scratch Built box if you want only those)

How many games are there out there that player 3 and 4 need 6 buttons?
Any?
The last link seems the best layout.

There are no games where players 3 and 4 need 6 buttons each.
Probably the closest is D&D shadow over Mystara (capcom 1997), 4 players with 4 buttons per player + 1 optional button per player used to show the inventory + 1 start button per player.
Normally the "start" button and the "inventory" button are the same one.
Honorable mention D&D tower of doom (capcom 1995?), 4 players with 4 buttons per player + 1 start button per player
They are both cool games tho
Anyone know how many buttons Golden Ax 2 is? 4 players with 3 buttons per player + start I think? after SOM it's probably the best beat em up

Golden Axe 2 is a good game, but I find it a bit slow after playing Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, Final Fight or Metal Slug. Cadillacs is 3 player (2 buttons per player). I have a feeling you can switch it to 4 player in dip switches.

A majority of CPs with that many buttons on players 3 and 4 are also designed to play console games.

I have a four player CP.. and I went with 6 buttons for players 3 and 4 mostly just to get a nice symetric look..
Also if you want.. you can have players 1 & 2 play on the outside controllers if you want more room.. etc.. just more flexibility.. the buttons are cheap to add a couple more..
