Title: analog stick drift
Post by: kaly on July 30, 2002, 04:38:35 am
i hav a 4button/4wayhat analog joystick by dexxa.

the stick suddenly starts drifting in the middle of the game every time when a level changes, and i have to center it with the sliders provided at the base. :-\

i replaced the 1k pot.. of the stick with 22k but the problem still remains. i understand that this is a common problem with analog joysticks. :'(

what are the various ways of solving this. ???

please advice.
thanks in advance.

I hadnt seen this often... but, luckily the new mame has the ability to set a 'dead zone'   This means, that even if the joy isnt perfectly centered... it wont matter cause its within the dead (or 'non-read') -zone.

pardon me

what is mame? is it a centering software for joysticks like ctjf. ctjf causes loss in framerate in games when running. where can i download mame?

i plan to construct an analog gamepad as per the ckt diagrams given in this site. will i have centering problems with that too?

thanks
