Title: PCB Help (Donkey Kong / DK Jr.)
Post by: REBIRTH on May 25, 2004, 02:00:28 pm
I don't expect and answer really, but I hope someone can point me in the right direction where I may be able to investigate for an answer.

I finished my first MAME cab, built from scratch, about a year ago.  A couple of days after I finished it a family member showed up at my door with a run-down Donkey Kong Jr. cabinet, which played Donkey Kong (not Jr.).   The cab is pretty beat up, but hopefully fixable (video gets wacky after about 2 hours of it being on, sound is not all there - seems to be a bad amplifier, CP is in bad shape).

Anyway, my question - The cabinet is a Donkey Kong Jr (at least the marquee, the bezel and control panel) but the PCB plays Donkey Kong (the original).  I understand that they made some PCB's so that they could play different games, and I am thinking this PCB may have both Donkey Kong and Jr. installed on it - and maybe all I need to do is flip a dip switch or something to go to the other game.

Anyone know a good PCB site where I may find this info?  In my Google searches the closest I came across was some guy who would retrofit a DK or DK Jr.  PCB with the "other" game, but this appears to be an original PCB that hasn't been touched.

Thanks!!!!

I'm curious about this, too, as I have a cab with the game "8-ball" running on DKJr. hardware.  I would like to "switch" it back to DKJr.  Any thoughts?
