Title: Set of 2 New Happ Competition 8 Way Joysticks! MAME!
Post by: rpfinley on May 25, 2004, 11:51:20 am
I found this on ebay, I haven't  bought anything yet, so far we are in the thinking about it stages.  I am thinking about a 4 person cab though.  Is this a good deal?  I would probably buy 2, to get 4 joysticks so $46 plus it includes shipping.

Any thoughts?

I'd like to second that.
His payment methods may be... odd, but he is #1 in  trustworthyness.

What's odd about this payment methods?  He wants a check or money order.  What's odd about that?  The fact that he won't take credit cards or PayPal?  He doesn't for the same reasons I don't, he'd have to raise his prices, and he doesn't want the hassle.  I don't think anyone wants that.

I don't think he was meaning the credit card/paypal thing.  Just that he really doesn't have a basket for ordering or anything.  You email him what you want to buy and he replies with a $.  Maybe it would have been best to say his purchasing procedure is odd, but it still works and he's an upstanding guy.  If I'm needing anything to buy, I usually hit up Bobs place first.

Order from Bob.  Competitions are $8.50/ea there.

Re auctions: I have ordered from 123Gumby before as a trial (I only needed a handful of buttons) and the buttons and switches he sells are not the same high quality as Bob or Happs sells.  Very cheap feeling and sounding.  He's a good seller but beware of the button quality.

I don't know about the joys.

Gumby now sells happ products.

He advertised Happ buttons when I bought, too, but the quality (and look) were too different from every other HAPP button I had ever seen for me to believe they were.  The little men on the start buttons even had a different stance.  I don't think the 'Cherry' swtitches were even labeled as such.

Who knows.  Both Bob and Happs have always done me right.

His old wording was somewhat deceiving as it listed something like "happs joysticks and buttons" but it was just the joysticks that were happs.  His new listing read 100% happ products and is about $5 more.

I have ordered from 123Gumby123 also, and I emailed him about his buttons. They are not Happ buttons, and use Zippy microswitches.  He now carries Happ Competition buttons, but not regular (concave) pushbuttons.  His regular pushbuttons are still the old brand.

Just an FYI

I just received a multiple item order from 123Gumby123, and I am very happy with the service and products.  I needed a 2 1/4 trackball plate, I emailed him, and he ordered it and had it in 2 days.  Very pleasant to deal with.

The Happs competition buttons are definately different, but I think I am really starting to like them.

I have always heard great things about Bob, but I prefer to make purchases with Paypal.
