I have a box already built with a D9200, and am considering the Happ VisionPro for my next one (it's cheaper). I have one (possibly stupid) question. When running on a PC monitor or the D9200, the OSD settings (size and position) are "remembered" for each of the different resolutions. I believe some low-end arcade monitors do not this.
Anyone know if the Vision Pro does?

Just off hand, what resolutions do you plan on switching to?

I'm not sure all the resolutions it supports, but for example if I size and center 640x480 and 800x600, they should hopefully each remember their position, and not override what the other one has done.

I see what you're saying, but why would you need more than one standard resolution if you're not going to be running arcade resolutions? Why don't you just lock everything into one resolution?

On my other machine, I use AdvanceMame, which I probably will do for this one as well. It allows you to set up many resolutions and maps the game to the best available one. I could map everything to 640x480, but then it would be more difficult to have everything take up the entire screen. I do not want to use hardware stretching (can't anyway since I will be running under Linux).

Ahhhhh..... Linux... that explains everything... I'm kind of a hardware stretching fan.

I use DOS (under Win98) on my other project, but I've been playing around with the Linux AdvanceMame, and it works very well. I lose hardware stretching, but I never had it under DOS and all the games looked great (using a D9200).
I think I may just buy the Happ monitor and check it out. Native 800x600 would be nice.

Well I will let you know how it works out, I picked up a vision pro monitor the other day. I haven't fired it up yet. But I will be soon so will let you know how it looks.

I ordered one myself. It's in transit. I'll report back what I find.

please report your impressions! I'm going to get one before the 5/31 sale ends (unless it gets bad reports).
thanks,

Well I went and picked mine up the other day, since I live fairly close to Happ's Deleware branch and it saved me on the shipping. Got it home and fired it up with my HTPC and a quickly made AdvanceCD full of some random games. And I have to say I am very pleased with quality of the picture. If you aren't familar with AdvanceCD check this link out...

The screenshots of the game were a little fuzzy and so was the windows desktop. But as for the actual games themselves, they were nice and clear. This is with no tweaking of any settings and using an ati 7200 radeon card. So as far as I can say now I would recomend this monitor. When I get the cabinet up and running for real, I will post again. The sale ends on it at the end of may, but even for $499 it still seems like it would be a good deal.

I received my monitor yesterday. Initial impressions are very good. It hits all the important resolutions (I am using AdvanceMame). Unfortunately for me, the holes in the mounting frame are a little off of the arcade cabinet I need to mount it in. I'm going to need to figure out how to drill new holes. Anyone have any ideas?
I am having one problem with the monitor. In the bottom and lower-left part of the monitor, there is some bleeding going on. Basically, when I look at console text, the text in the middle of the monitor leeks perfect. At the bottom the white text is bleeding a little orange color below the letters. Has anyone else seen this? I tried degausing, but it didn't fix it. I need to contact Happ and ask them about it.
Besides that hopefully minor problem, I like the monitor so far.

I have the same problem with the bottom and top left side of the monitor. Did Happ tell you anything?

I should also add that I'm having a small issue with the pincushion adjustment...it's set to max but I still get some rounding near the corners of the screen.

Sorry, I forgot to post the latest...
Well, I got really fed up with the monitor. The convergence was terrible. The picture also wasn't clear on any part of the monitor. I also own a D9200, which looked so much better.
So, I returned it. Happ was very cool about it, and paid the shipping to send it back and send me a replacement.
Problem #2:
The replacement also has problems. There are still convergence problems in roughly the same area, but they are not as pronounced as the first monitor. This monitor, however, is not sharp. There are some major focus issues, and adjusting the focus does not fix it.
I have now given up. I called Happ today and they are taking the monitor back. I am just going to order another WG D9200.
I know there are some people on the board who have had problems with the D9200, but I've owned one for over 3 years and have never had a problem. Maybe I just got unlucky twice with the Happ monitor, but I'm not willing to try for #3.

Hey thanks for the reply. Do you have a contact name at Happ. I'd like them to know that yours wasn't an isolated incident although I'm not having anywhere near the issues you had. Other than the slight aberation at the exteme top and bottom left corners the picture looks fine. Did they ship you a new one first or make you send the old one back first?

They actually cross-shipped. Happ has been very cool the whole time through this. I forget the girl's name. I have it at work and I'll post it tomorrow.

Great. Thanks. I'm hoping they will ship me another first (so I can use the shipping material to send the other back and to compare the 2 to see which one I want to send back).
