alright, ive wired the pc to a red pushbutton and it works and everything. but now im trying to figure out a good place to mount this baby. i have a showcase style cab if you didnt know, and i want to put this button so thats its easy to access....but not too easy...and i dont want it to be an eyesore. any recommendations as to where i should mount it?? options are so far:
-under the control panel
-on top of the monitor section
-on the side of the monitor base section
-on the back of the monitor base section
any suggestions?
heres the link to my cab pics http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=16166

Back of monitor base

only thing is....the back of the monitor base is the removable door so i can get to the pc. i guess if i made the wire long enough though it wouldnt be a problem...whenever i had to open the door, the wire would be long enough so that the button wouldnt be pulled or anything. you think that would be safe?

I would put it on the very top of the cabinet. That way, unless you're really short, you can reach it easily but it's not seen. Plus that's one logical place most people would search for it.
-
I'd put it on the back of the pedastal. That way it would be hidden and still easily accessible, and you could fire everything up from the control panel area rather than going over to the cabinet to do so.

You could always put it inside the coin door. That way nobody could turn it on unless you wanted them to.

If your mother board supports it, enable wake-on-key-press and forget the power button - when you press any button or move the joystick it will power on.

well i like the idea of having a "power button"...just looks/sounds cool to me. i may put it on either the top of the monitor section, or the back....still debating pros/cons.

Top of the monitor section makes the most sense to me.

I think you should mount it upside-down on the bottom of the control panel directly above the coindoor.
-
hmmmm...thats interesting, but the only thing i would worry about is hitting it with my knee while sitting.

I have a couple of buttons under the CP. Never bothers me -and i've got pretty long legs - but it's quite a tall cab. You might accidently knock it on a smaller cab.
If you set power button function to disabled in power management it won't matter if you knock it.

Well...you could always put mount it upside-down on the bottom of the control panel on the side or something, rather than directly above the coindoor. I was just thinking about symetry, but it's not like you'd be able to see it anyway.
-
true....hmmm.....well ill look on my cp tonight and in other places to see what the best place would be.

I put my power button in the very top of the cab. As an ealier post said, it isn't there for small kids to get to (I have 3), you can't see it unless you are over 6'3", but very easy to get to for the average adult.
