I recently (finally) got a simpsons 4-player game. The side art is in decent shape, but has some normal scratches. It's mostly not bad enough to worry about, except that the worst section will be visible....so I'd like to make some attempt to clean it up. It looks like:

I'd be happy to just touch up the white marks on the blue background (I don't really want to worry about the scratches over the characters). So it seems my choice is to either find the right color paint, or replace the entire side.
Anyone know the color? Or, does anyone know where I could find NOS? Any help would be appreciated.

i dont think youre likely to 'find' the right colour. even if you did it would most probably not match due to fading. best bet would be to take a small chip off it and take it to a paint shop with a computerized colour matching system and then see how close it looks on a scratch. if its still noticable you might consider masking out the characters and respraying the whole background. otherwise i guess youd just have to replace the whole thing. that i have no ideas about...

I would figure such simple artwork would be easy to vectorize and reproduce. However, That would likely be very expensive. Painting may be the only reasonable option, whether it's a good one or not. Or perhaps you could repro just the picture without background, paint the background, and reapply just the image.

Is the back door the same color?
I took my back door (off of Pacman) to Lowes and had them color match the thing and it turned out perfect!!!

Can you take some good pictures, so that someone can vectorize that art? I'd love to have it!
