Title: diy spinner with a opti-pac
Post by: rchadd on May 18, 2004, 06:00:04 pm
i have seen many online projects making a diy spinner by cannibalizing a USB mouse and a harddrive (for the bearing).

I already have an opti-pac which is to be connected to my happ trackball - therefore assume the USB mouse interface functionality is not required in my case.

Can i implement a diy spinner by simply removing the optical transmitter/receiver components and encoder wheel from a mouse, and then wire them directly to the optipac spinner inputs?

is additional circuitry required to link the transmitter/reciever components to the optipac?
