Post by: hulkster on May 17, 2004, 10:55:51 pm
alright, i have a volume control that ill mount on the inside of my coin door, but there has got to be a way to set the initial volume for a game that is low on volume.  example : wrestlefest.  that game is very low in volume, and there has to be  a way to set it initially.  ive tried toa ccess the service menu but couldnt...so is there any other way?  like in the config files or something?

I think the volume int he tilde key is individual.

Some games you have to go into the F2 menu and turn them up.  A lot of the newer Midway games, like Mortal Kombat and 2 on 2 Open Ice Challenge are that way.

well i went into the tilde menu and it brought up the volume in decibals, but the problem is, is that its set by default at 0d!!  so that doesnt help.  i tried to hold down f2 or whatever, and i believe wrestlefest doesnt have a service menu.  what else can i try?

Turn your volume knob up and reduce the volume of all other games!

um....wow....why didnt i think of that before.  only thing is, i have to change the volume for every single game just because like 3 or 4 games have low volume :-\.  could i adjust the volume in mame32 for all games, and then hopefully when i pull up the tilde menu it will be set as such?  im at work right now or id test it.

I *believe* the IPAC/JPAC shortcut for volume control is hold start and press up on the joystick. You can then adjust it with the joystick and press start and up again to close volume control.

hmmm....well i would rather have it set initially though ::)  i dont know, i may try the set the volume low for all games except for the games that have low volume, and then turn the speakers up really loud.  but then games like tiger woods and golden tee that i have for my pc, will be super loud! >:(

Well is volume a global setting in MAME or is it specific for every game like key mapping? Regardless, it should save your settings when you exit so the next time it'll keep your volume and you should only have to do it once.

It doesn't save settings for the tilde approach :(.  Don't know about any other strategy...
